As gamers I'm sure we all have memories of sitting around a table littered with empty soda cans and bags of chips. Fun as that was as a teenager, I'm older now and cannot get through an entire game session on junk food and caffeine alone. Could I eat a proper meal BEFORE game? Yes. Is it way more fun for us to cook a meal for the group that adds to the atmosphere as well as being healthier than the traditional gamer fare? YES! Each month we are going to share our experience cooking a history- or theme-inspired meal. We'll break it down into weekly projects.
Week 1- Main Dish
Week 2- Side Dish
Week 3- Drink
Week 4- Dessert
By the end of the month you'll have an entire meal ready for your hungry company! Don't want to be responsible for the entire thing? No problem, have different people prepare each part. We have Tanks, Healers, DPS and Spell Casters, right?
With each post, we'll share the original sources for the recipes and our alterations. I am allergic to pretty much every thing, and our group also has vegetarians, so don't worry about that impossible-to-feed friend. We'll probably have something for them.
We also understand that folks don't have a ton of cash to dump on fancy foods and/or professional kitchens. We've got you. Mac was completely unprepared for the price of Saffron. Sure, HISTORICALLY, it was a rare and expensive spice.....turns out it's still processed by hand and crazy expensive. We opted to not use it because we did also need to afford food for the rest of the month.
So, the plan is to post each recipe starting the first Saturday of the month which should allow you to grab ingredients and test it out that weekend if you'd like. If you try out a recipe let us know how it turned out, and if there's something in particular you'd like us to tackle just comment or send an email.
There's always more room at our table for another wayward adventurer and we're excited to share what we have.
